Who we are.

Universal Day Care comes from humble beginnings, a conversation over a cup of coffee. "Isn’t that how most new adventures start"

The idea was to set up a caring service that provided a day-care service that contributes a safe, reliable, trustworthy, patient and caring service.

Universal Day Care provides quality day care services for adults of all ages who need assistance with learning, mentoring and empowerment.

At the Universal Day Care, we offer a holistic person-centred care service which promotes independence, health and well-being for our service users. We have over 35 years of experience in this field of care.

We provide tailored daycare services to those who need assistance, learning and mentoring so that they can lead an independent life. Indulge in an array of fun-filled activities including craft, painting, meditation and more. We are conveniently located in Smethwick and welcome customers from across Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Dudley & Sandwell.

We cater to the needs of people who have learning and physical disabilities. We also assist and support able-bodied service users. Our centre is a secure diverse unit welcoming all ethnic minorities and are respectful of all cultural and religious needs. We embrace the values of honesty, integrity, safety and excellence in client services as well as accountability.

All our staff are fully trained and DBS checked. All care policies and procedures and confidentiality ,complaints, and grievance procedures are in place

Our Aim

Our aim is to provide day care services to promote the health and well-being of the individuals, we actively encourage individuals to interact and socialize. to maintain improved high living standards, avoid isolation, and help individuals to learn new skills that would benefit them in their everyday life. So they become happier and more relaxed in their environment, and feel less isolated with low self-esteem at home.

Our Objectives

The following is a list of our objectives, the list of objectives has been designed so that we can meet the aims specified above.

    We wish to encompass a dedicated staff team , which will include a CQC Registered Manager/Centre with an overall rating of OUTSTANDING.
    Provide a safe and comfortable day-care environment, which is welcoming and secure.
    Maintain our service user’s privacy, dignity, independence, and human rights, which is driven into the core of the care planning.
    Ensure families are involved in the planning and preparation of care services that we provide.
    Use quality assurance and employability programmes to ensure quality assurance is maintained and the expectations are exceeding the current standards.
    Balance the needs and rights of our services users verses the needs and rights of our other service users.
    Meet the requirement’s laid out in the Health & Social Care Act 2008 and the associated regulations.
    To support the local community, we do this through interaction and communication. Visits to local shops.
    We plant trees in our local community and support the local allotments
    Regular visits to our local ⛪️ Church / 🛕 Gurdwaras / 🕌 Mosques.

We individually assess the service user to identify their needs and offer our services accordingly. Our ethos and principles in Universal Day Care are very much person centred.

We offer a range of veg, non-veg, and halal meals and snacks in need with the dietary and religious requirements of our service users, thus maintaining a healthy and balanced diet.

Making sure that all care, religious and cultural needs are being met. We promote high standards of support and care.

We are committed to the safety of our staff and service users by providing a safe working environment by adhering to all the required health and safety procedures. The building is user-friendly. wheelchair access and lift facility are available. The building is fully cctv monitored and secured for the safety of the staff and service users. We actively promote anti-oppressive practices throughout the workforce.

Transport is provided to and from the centre supervised by our fully trained staff for health and safety.

Our staff are always available to assist you in any way they can. We only hire our employees after thorough background checks for your safety and security. Our employees are subjected to extensive background checks, which include:

Our staff retention is extremely good, which we find helps promote and provide continuity and consistency for our service users.

We have an on-going training and development plan, and all staff are required to complete "The Care Certificate." Once this has been obtained and there has been a minimum of three months of experience, the staff member will be encouraged to complete a qualification in health and social care. (Level appropriate to the staff’s current ability.)

Disclosure and Barring Service Check (Enhanced DBS) clearances is required.
Comprehensive application with information on up to ten years of work history.
Interview in person with competency tests.
A minimum Two references from current and former employers.
Attendance at all mandatory training, including moving and handling, health and safety, fire prevention and evacuation, safeguarding, infection control, first aid, and food hygiene.
Healthcare support staff are encouraged to pursue NVQ II & III certifications in challenging behaviour and learning disabilities.
